Customers cite seamless, free ecosystem integration.

Customers most often leave over the 30-33% subscription increases introduced in early 2026, with some also objecting to paying for AI features they did not request. Support problems intensify the risk when account access fails, as customers describe multi-day waits and no human escalation path. Long-term users also report declining trust in a product direction they see as increasingly subscription-heavy and enterprise-focused.

A sudden increase can make an annual renewal difficult to justify, especially for customers who have also seen costs rise over several years. It typically surfaces at renewal, when individual and family users begin evaluating cheaper or bundled options.
Some customers see AI features as unnecessary bloat and connect the added cost directly to functionality they did not ask for. The issue becomes most visible when subscription pricing rises or when users compare the product's direction with their own security needs.
Account lockouts and recovery problems become more disruptive when customers face chatbot dead ends, repeated requests for information, and waits of five to six days or longer. This is most acute when access to a shared vault or a new device depends on timely help.
Brief payment failures can immediately disconnect family accounts, while guest accounts may be charged despite already-paid users. These issues surface during billing changes and can interrupt access for multiple people.
Long-term customers describe a shift from a user-focused product toward a subscription-heavy enterprise tool. This concern tends to build over time as pricing, AI features, and unresolved product issues reinforce doubts about priorities.
Customers who believe they can move their vaults without losing data have less reason to accept renewal increases or unwanted features. The option becomes especially relevant when individual or family subscriptions come up for renewal.
Customers name Apple Passwords, Bitwarden, Proton Pass, KeePassXC, Roboform, and Vaultwarden as destinations. Bitwarden draws interest for open-source transparency, Proton Pass for bundled value, and Apple Passwords for seamless, free ecosystem integration. Price increases and the ability to migrate vaults without data loss are central to the switching decision.

Pricing complaints spiked after a 30-33% subscription increase, and customers also object to paying for AI features they do not want. Billing friction includes reported guest-account double charges and immediate family-account disconnection after brief payment failures.
I’ve just received notice that my annual price is increasing from $35.88 to $47.88 — a 33% rise in a single year. Over the past three years, my subscription cost has increased by 122%. That level of escalation is difficult to justify.

Customers describe automated support paths, repeated information requests, and waits of five to six days or longer. During account lockouts, the lack of a human escalation path can make access and recovery problems substantially worse.
Support is extremely slow. Replies can take 5–6 days, sometimes longer. On top of that, support often does not read messages carefully and keeps asking for more and more information instead of actually answering the questions.

A 30-33% increase in early 2026 has prompted explicit cancellations, including from customers with long tenure. Individual and family users report considering cheaper or bundled alternatives because they believe vault migration can occur without data loss.
After 15+ years with 1Password (I still have my 1P4 license), I’m finally throwing in the towel... I’m ready to leave because even my last year at 50% off.

Trust is eroding among some long-term users who see the product moving from a native, user-focused application toward a web-based, subscription-heavy enterprise tool. Perceived removal of complaints adds to the view that flaws are being hidden rather than fixed.
After 15+ years as a loyal user, watching this app slowly transform to "greed machine" been genuinely disappointing. What used to feel like a thoughtfully crafted product built by people who cared about users has gradually turned into something that feels driven by corporate growth targets.
Feb 2026
Some individual and family users view the AI direction as unwanted bloat and as inconsistent with the zero-knowledge security model. They explicitly connect subscription increases to AI features they did not request.
Client depuis de nombreuses années je reçois un mail annonçant 38% d’augmentation pour de soi-disant fonctionnalités intelligentes par IA qui n’ont pas d’utilité et que je n’ai pas demandées.

Customers report application failures such as generated passwords not being saved, recurring Safari extension crashes, and a passkey issue that reportedly remained unresolved for more than a year. Slow support makes these daily-use problems harder to recover from.
I wanted to change a password at Amazon. 1password suggests a secure password, Amazon saves new password, logs me out, asks to login back with the new password, and... 1password did not save it!

Setup can require separately configuring desktop applications, browser extensions, and mobile settings. The Secret Key architecture and multi-device synchronization can leave less technical users stuck during deployment or when accessing a new device.
I've tried to switch from LastPass twice in two years and I can't figure out how to make it work. First install the desktop app, then the chrome extension, then add to safari on my iPhone, turn them all on, turn LastPass off, etc, etc.

Customers cite missing structured storage for 2FA backup codes, hardcoded MM/DD/YYYY formatting, and an Identity birth-date field that cannot be cleared once entered. These smaller gaps compound concerns that the core product is receiving insufficient attention.
Is it just me or does anyone else find @1Password not following the system date format ridiculous? I get tripped by this all the time. Why is the MM/DD/YYYY format default?
